Frequently Asked Questions
What is your process for new clients? Where do I begin?
The first step in working with me is to fill out the required forms: Intake Form, Health History Questionnaire, Physical Activity Readiness Questionnaire (PAR-Q), and You.
Once your forms are completed and submitted, we will schedule a free consultation. From there, we will complete a consultation and determine if working with me is something you’d like to do.
I am new to fitness training. What should I expect?
Beginning a fitness training program can seem daunting and scary at first. Rest assured, I evaluate each client's physical ability prior to designing a custom fitness regimen for them. I will design a fitness plan based on your current capabilities and will update and modify it as we progress. If there are exercises that you dislike, we can substitute them. If there are exercises that you enjoy and want to incorporate them into your program, we can do that as well.
What is covered in a consultation?
During the free consultation, we will review and discuss the information you provided on your forms (Intake Form, Health History Questionnaire, Physical Activity Readiness Questionnaire (PAR-Q) and You). I will then answer any questions you may have regarding a fitness program with me. If you decide you’d like me to be your trainer, we will schedule and conduct a Physical Assessment to determine what exercises that will be needed for your fitness program and identify any fitness barriers.
What is a Fitness Assessment?
During the Fitness Assessment, I will evaluate your posture (head to toe), ask you to complete a functional movement screen, and a few physical assessments to determine what exercises to incorporate into your Fitness Program and to identify strengths and potential weaknesses.
What should I wear for the Consultation and Virtual Physical Assessment?
Wear comfortable gym attire. Clothing that is too loosely fitted will prevent an accurate postural assessment from being completed.
What do you expect from your clients?
I expect very little from a client. I have the same expectations of my friends as I do from clients.
-
Be on time – Don’t leave me waiting for you and I will do the same.
-
Communicate – If something comes up, talk to me. If you don’t understand an exercise or why it’s been assigned, ask. Open dialogue is key.
-
Put in work - This includes nutrition tracking and program review outside of the gym, and full effort during gym sessions.
-
Enthusiasm - Show up ready and willing to exercise.
What types of home fitness equipment do you recommend for remote clients?
In order of precedence, my favorite home fitness equipment is:
Sandbag
Suspension gym (like TRX)
Adjustable Dumbbell Set
Resistance Bands
Kettlebells
Jump Rope
Floor Slides
How are you different from a regular gym trainer?
Unlike a regular gym trainer, I don’t aim for client quantity or represent a specific establishment process. I don’t have quota’s and I don’t do “Sales”. I want to work with those of you that WANT to work with me. I dedicate undivided attention to your training program and make myself available for communication throughout the day.
